Nancy Cohen's Hair Brained nominated for RPLA

Nancy Cohen’s latest novel, Hair Brained  is a Finalist in the RPLA. Hair Brained is the fourteenth installment in the Bad Hair Day Mystery series, starring Marla Shore (now Marla Vail), a Florida salon owner who is as good at solving mysteries as she is at styling hair. Titles in the Bad Hair Day Mysteries have made the IMBA bestseller list, been selected by Suspense Magazine as best cozy mystery, won a Readers' Favorite gold medal, and earned third place in the Arizona Literary Awards.

"The Drive-by" nominated for RPLA Award!

My short story, The Drive-by, originally published in the Anthology Busted: Arresting Stories from the Beat (Level Best Books 2017) is a finalist in the published short story genre category of the 2018 Royal Palm Literary Awards (RPLA) competition.

Awards are announced at the Florida Writer's Association Banquet at the FWA Conference in Altamonte Springs on October 20th.

I'm very pleased my story placed, as my novel, The Saffron Crocus, won best YA Historical in 2015.

Inspired by April’s National Poetry Month and thanks to the StoryADay in May writing challenge, May has become identified with the short story. So StoryADay.org made it official and declared May 2013 to be the first organized International Short Story Month.

The Short Mystery Fiction Society joins the celebration each year by highlighting members’ published story every day of the month.
